Finally made the plunge!

I finally made the plunge and made the call to ordered the PocketShip kit and the milled timber package last week. With this being my first build I wanted to make it as easy as possible. It will still be a major project for me even with kit. I also want to get it built as soon as possible, so I can enjoy sailing her.

I have been busy making room to build her in my garage. I made a couple new work benches and have my present Hobie TI hung on the ceiling out of the way. I will be moving the trailer out as soon as the kit arrives. I used a Garage Gator which is an electric hoist.

I also started to make the nose block. I am making two. One to practice on and the real one. Glad I did, since I made some small mistakes on the practice one.

Here I am clueing two pieces of wood together for the nose block. I brought it into the house to cure for 8 days. The garage has been too cold for the epoxy to cure properly.

Cutting out the nose block on the table saw was a little tricky. I had to remove the safety cover to be able to cut the larger block of wood.  I just took my time.

Below is after a few of the rough cuts on the table saw.

I used a plane to get it down to just about the final shape. After some sanding, I should be good to go.

Now I am just waiting for the kit to arrive. Will probably be a few weeks.
